Parenting Education Program
The Community Parenting is an educational program that enhances both parent and child development. Prevention and intervention strategies are provided that is effective across cultural lines.
The Community Parenting Program offers Parenting Seminars and Classes, a quarterly Community Baby Shower, Babysitting Certifications and Parenting Workshops.
Parenting Seminars and Classes
Parenting Classes consists of twelve weekly two hour classes. The "Strengthening Multi-Ethnic Families and Communities" curriculum by Dr. Marilyn Steele is used to conduct the seminars. Seminars are offered on or off site. Please contact the Delta AHEC North office at 870.735.5527 for more information or to enroll in a class.
Community Baby Shower
Quarterly Community Baby Showers are offered for expectant mothers in their last trimester of pregnancy. The showers are held at Crittenden Regional Hospital in Class Room One.
Babysitting Certification
The Safe Sitters Babysitting Certification program is offered in conjunction with numerous community partners. The course is available to 11-13 year old adolescents. The courses promote the philosophy that safe sitters today make better parents tomorrow! Contact the Delta AHEC North office at 870.735.5527 for course dates.

- "Strengthening Multi-Ethnic Families and Communities" by Marilyn L. Steele, PH.D.
- "Right from Birth" and "Going to School" by Drs. Craig and Sharon Ramey
- "Parents who Care" by Developmental Research and Programs
- "Raising Resilient Children" by Drs. Robert Books and Sam Goldstein
