The Delta Area Health Education Center North Site is an outreach of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, serving Crittenden and St. Francis counties. The mission of Delta AHEC is to enhance healthcare access and health status, through recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals, professional education and public health education in the Arkansas Delta.
Delta AHEC North was established in the fall of 2001 and is housed at Crittenden Regional Hospital. Utilizing a partnership with the hospital the Center employees a unique and strategic approach to meet its goal of improving health through education. A major role of Delta AHEC-North is that of a facilitator and coordinator of existing and available resources. In addition, as an outreach arm of UAMS, Delta AHEC North has been the necessary vehicle through which to extend UAMS resources to this region.
The objectives of the Delta Area Health Education Center North are as follows: recruitment and retention efforts of healthcare professionals; continuing education for healthcare professionals; and community health education.
